What is RRB Office Assistant?
Office Assistant (Multipurpose), often called RRB Clerk, is the Group B customer and operations role in Regional Rural Banks. Typical broad work includes counter and account service, transactions, records and support for branch and financial-inclusion operations, according to the allotted RRB's procedures.
Current CRP RRBs-XV recruitment
The original RRB-wise tables listed 8,183 indicative Office Assistant vacancies; IBPS's updated Annexure-I dated 15 September 2026 raises the current total to 8,222. Applications were open from 1 to 21 September and are now closed; no extension notice appeared on the IBPS page checked on 25 September. The official tentative calendar lists Prelims on 6, 12 and 13 December 2026, Main on 30 January 2027 and provisional allotment in February/March 2027; these dates remain tentative unless IBPS confirms changes.
Eligibility, age and language
Bachelor's degree in any discipline must be completed by 21 September 2026.
Proficiency in the local language prescribed by the participating RRB is essential; working knowledge of computers is desirable.
Age: 18 to 28 years as on 1 September 2026.
Major upper-age relaxations include SC/ST 5 years, OBC 3 years and PwBD 10 years. The notification applies different rules for ex-servicemen and widowed/divorced women, so those categories should use the official table.
Selection process
Office Assistant selection consists of preliminary and main online examinations followed by provisional allotment. There is no interview. Preliminary scores are only for shortlisting; main-examination scores form the merit basis.

Negative marking
A wrong objective answer attracts a penalty of one-fourth, or 0.25, of the marks assigned to that question. Unanswered questions have no penalty.
Syllabus and preparation scope
Prepare reasoning, numerical ability, computer knowledge, general awareness and either English or Hindi. Useful preparation areas include arithmetic and data interpretation, analytical reasoning and puzzles, rural/banking/current awareness, practical computer basics and language accuracy. These micro-topics are preparation guidance; the official notice defines the broader tested sections.
Pay, role and career context
The allotted RRB issues the appointment and controls pay, allowances, probation, posting and transfer conditions. The common IBPS notice therefore does not provide one universal in-hand salary. Career progression follows that RRB's service rules, internal examinations and vacancy position without a guaranteed timeline.
