Start with what the exam selects for
SBI PO is not only a speed test. Prelims asks for controlled execution inside section clocks. Mains asks you to understand denser information, retrieve GA and make sound choices. Communication Skills and Phase III add clarity, judgement and professional response. Your plan should reflect that sequence from the beginning.
Build the base before chasing speed
In Quant, make fractions, percentages, ratio, averages and arithmetic relationships reliable. In Reasoning, learn to translate conditions into a clean representation. In English, read regularly and notice how meaning, grammar and paragraph flow work together. A strong base reduces the number of decisions you have to repair under time pressure.
The useful Banking Legends principle is Structure → Base → Interpretation → Calculation. In DI, read units, totals and the exact ask before operating on numbers. In a puzzle, place fixed conditions before opening branches. Understand first. Calculate later.
Make Prelims practice deliberate
Use the 20-minute section clocks as experiments. Mark questions that are quick, workable or expensive. Take the reliable marks, leave a set whose construction cost is too high, and review whether the choice was correct. Accuracy, time and question selection matter together; a large attempt count built on guesses is weak evidence.
Start Mains now
Keep Mains DI, multi-condition Reasoning, GA/Banking and Communication Skills in the weekly plan before the Prelims result. This does not require a full Mains mock every day. One carefully read DI set, one Reasoning set, regular GA retrieval and a short communication task are enough to keep the later stage alive.
For Communication Skills, rotate Email, Situation Analysis, Report and Precis. Check audience, purpose, relevant facts, order and concision. Avoid a memorised answer shape that ignores the situation.
Use PYQs and mocks as evidence
Solve a PYQ without notes, then record the first decision point: concept, interpretation, calculation or selection. Re-solve only after you can explain the change. A mock is useful when it answers a question—perhaps whether a puzzle representation is too slow or whether GA retrieval fails without notes. Analyse the cause and choose the next practice block from it. Do not repeat the same review exercise merely to fill a timetable.
Build GA as retrieval, not collection. Daily reading creates raw material; weekly consolidation connects an event to an institution or policy; monthly questions show what is actually remembered. Remove duplicate notes and keep banking concepts connected to current affairs.
The final phase and the result
Near the exam, reduce novelty. Refresh the error notebook, practise timed sections, retrieve GA through questions and write a few communication tasks. After the Prelims result, move directly to Mains execution instead of restarting the syllabus. Phase III preparation can then add thoughtful discussion, judgement and professional communication.
A good weekly plan changes with evidence. If calculation is sound but set selection is poor, more calculation drills are not the answer. If the base is weak, another full mock will only produce more noise. The aim is not the longest schedule; it is a series of better decisions repeated consistently.
