Official framework vs preparation coverage
SBI officially defines the test sections, questions, marks, timing and selection rules. It does not give a coaching-style list that guarantees every topic or question format. The useful approach is to keep the official pattern fixed and use recent PYQs to decide what to practise.
Prelims Numerical Ability
Build calculation around percentages, fractions, ratios, averages and approximation. Then connect that base to arithmetic such as profit-loss, simple/compound interest, mixture, partnership, time-work, pipes, speed-distance and boats/trains where relevant. Number series, simplification/approximation and Data Interpretation have also been recurring preparation areas.
Do not treat DI as only calculation. Read units, totals and the exact question before operating on the numbers.
Prelims Reasoning
Common preparation families include seating and puzzles, inequality, syllogism, coding, direction, blood relation, ranking/order and alphanumeric or short logical questions. The transferable skill is representation: write fixed information first and do not add assumptions.
English
Preparation should cover reading comprehension, contextual vocabulary, fillers, sentence usage, grammar in context, error detection and paragraph arrangement. Reading regularly is more useful than memorising isolated rules without context.
Mains Quantitative Aptitude
Mains needs deeper arithmetic and DI. Practise tables, caselets, comparison-based sets, missing/incomplete data formats where seen in PYQs, and arithmetic embedded inside DI. The key difference is not simply harder calculation; it is denser interpretation under a fixed 45-minute section.
Mains Reasoning & Computer Aptitude
Expect larger arrangements and puzzles, logical conditions, data-sufficiency style reasoning where relevant, and computer/technology awareness integrated with the section. Use PYQs to understand the real demand instead of preparing an entire generic computer textbook.
General / Financial Awareness
Build this as a connected current-affairs and banking system: RBI and regulators, banking products, payments, financial institutions, economy, government schemes, reports, appointments and major exam-relevant national/international events. Daily reading should feed weekly consolidation and monthly retrieval practice.
Local language
LLPT is not another academic syllabus to memorise. If you are not exempt through Class 10/12 proof, practical reading, writing, speaking and understanding of the specified language is what matters.
The preparation map should change when PYQs expose a weakness; the official structure should not be confused with a coaching list.
