Prepare one recruitment, not three disconnected stages
RRB PO is Prelims → Main → Interview. The common mistake is to study only Reasoning/Quant until Prelims, then discover that Main GA, Computer and Interview knowledge were never built.
Phase 1 — Base
For Quant, make percentages, fractions, ratios, averages and calculation relationships automatic enough that they do not block interpretation.
For Reasoning, build representation before speed. Keep the sequence: Structure → Base → Interpretation → Calculation. Understand first. Calculate later.
Phase 2 — Prelims execution
Practise the actual sectional clocks: 25 minutes Reasoning, 20 minutes Quant. Learn to classify questions quickly: take now, return later, leave.
Track attempts, accuracy and time together. A high-attempt paper with avoidable negative marks is not a strong performance.
Phase 3 — Main preparation starts before Prelims result
Run GA and Computer Knowledge from the beginning. GA is 40 questions in 15 minutes; it rewards recall built over time. Daily current affairs should feed weekly revision, monthly consolidation and repeated retrieval.
Computer Knowledge is easier to maintain with short regular revision than with one last-minute marathon.
Practise Main Reasoning and Quant in 30-minute blocks so your set/question selection adapts to the real section clock.
Phase 4 — Use PYQs and mocks as diagnosis
After a mock, identify the real cause of lost marks: concept, representation, calculation, question selection, GA recall, language comprehension or computer knowledge. The next practice block should repair that cause.
Giving another mock without reviewing the cause only produces another score.
Phase 5 — State/vacancy/cutoff data
Use five-year cutoff and vacancy history to understand competition, not to predict an exact 2026 cutoff. Vacancy is only one driver; paper difficulty, candidate pool, normalization, category, RRB reporting and mergers also matter.
Build margin above historical ranges rather than targeting last year's number.
Phase 6 — Interview foundation
From the beginning, stay able to explain:
what an RRB is and why it exists;
rural credit, financial inclusion and major banking developments;
your State, local economy and chosen RRB;
your graduation/work background;
why you want an Officer Scale I role;
basic current banking/economic issues.
After Main, convert this base into structured interview practice. Do not manufacture memorised answers that sound identical to every other candidate.
Final weeks before Prelims
Reduce new material, rehearse exact sectional timing, protect accuracy and keep small GA/Computer revision blocks alive. After Prelims, move immediately to full Main sections instead of restarting the course.
