Graduation
Officer Scale I requires a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification. The qualifying result must be declared on or before 21 September 2026.
The notification gives preference to degrees in areas such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing & Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy. This is a preference, not a rule that other graduates are ineligible.
No post-qualification work experience is required for Officer Scale I.
Age as on 1 September 2026
For the general/EWS age band, a candidate must be above 18 and below 30 years. The notified date-of-birth window is 2 September 1996 to 1 September 2008, both dates inclusive.
Common upper-age relaxations include:

Use the exact detailed-notification clause where more than one relaxation could apply. Do not add relaxations mechanically.
Nationality / citizenship
The standard IBPS nationality framework covers an Indian citizen and the other specifically permitted categories such as eligible subjects of Nepal/Bhutan, qualifying Tibetan refugees and specified persons of Indian origin, subject to a Government of India eligibility certificate where required.
Local language is an essential qualification
For Officer Scale I, local-language proficiency is not an optional preference.
A candidate who studied the prescribed State language in Standard VIII or above in a recognised school/board, or has the equivalent certificate, is treated as proficient. If the condition is not met at selection, the notification framework allows time after joining — normally six months — to acquire the required proficiency, subject to the RRB's rules and the probation ceiling.

Computer knowledge
Working knowledge of computers is desirable. It is not listed as a separate experience requirement for Scale I.
No attempt cap
CRP-RRBs XV does not prescribe a fixed lifetime attempt limit for Officer Scale I. Eligibility is controlled by the notified age, qualification and other conditions. Do not import SBI PO attempt rules here.
Documents that usually decide eligibility
Keep proof of date of birth, degree/result date, category/EWS/PwBD status where applicable, identity, local-language study/certificate and other notification-specific documents ready. Application acceptance is not final eligibility approval; candidature remains subject to scrutiny.
A practical State-choice check
Before selecting a State/RRB, ask four questions: Can I satisfy the local-language rule? Am I willing to work there? What are the current vacancies? What does the multi-year competition history look like? Use all four together.
