Use historical information for structure
RBI Grade B is not one interchangeable paper. The General, DEPR and DSIM cadres have distinct qualifications and specialist examinations. Historical official results and cutoffs can show that each stage is competitive; they cannot predict a score because vacancies, stream, category, paper difficulty and normalisation context vary.
What changes the interpretation
General candidates face a broad Phase I screen and three Phase II papers, including descriptive work.
DEPR and DSIM candidates must follow their specialist appendices and subject requirements rather than borrow the General preparation plan.
An old cutoff is a result of a specific panel year, not a safe target or a substitute for the current notice.
A practical conclusion
Use the current RBI notice to identify your cadre and every paper. Build depth for Phase II early; Phase I speed alone does not demonstrate readiness for General economics, finance and management or the specialist DEPR/DSIM work.
