How to use previous-year information
IBPS PO/MT is a multi-stage recruitment. Previous official notifications are useful for understanding the structure of the process, not for predicting an individual result. Competition, vacancies, normalisation and category or state context can change how marks should be read.
What the official record shows
The recent official PO/MT notifications retain a Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, Personality Test and Interview pathway.
The Main Examination is materially different from Prelims: it includes objective papers plus a descriptive English component.
The Personality Test is stated as non-qualifying; the Main Examination and Interview contribute to final merit in the notified 80:20 weightage.
Interpret cutoffs with context
A historical cutoff is not a preparation target. It reflects a particular vacancy position, category, test difficulty and normalisation outcome. Use it to understand that every stage has a threshold and that accuracy matters; do not use it to justify random speed targets or ignore the Main Examination.
Pattern changes and what to watch
Read the current detailed notification before each cycle. IBPS can change the schedule, eligibility, vacancies, section order or other operational details. Banking Legends does not infer a future change from a previous calendar or coaching estimate.
A better preparation question
Instead of asking which old score is safe, ask whether you can interpret a question correctly, solve it with a sound base and calculation, and leave enough time for the sections and descriptive task that the current notification actually prescribes.
